Technical faults led by excessive heat wave & surge in power demand

Karachi, June 29, 2015: K-Electric in its recent press statement requests its valued customers to avoid using unnecessary electricity equipment at this time of excessive heat wave in Karachi.

KE said that with the rise of temperature, and increasing demand of electricity has exceeded to a record high of 3100 MW. He also added that Kannupp is down due to technical reasons after which the 70 MW KE buys from it is missing from the system, while on the other hand, low level of gas supply at various other power plants has also affected overall production of electricity in the city.

KE’s spokesperson further stated that certain exempted areas will also face load-shed on selected feeders due to increase in temperature and in order to manage power supply and maintain equal distribution across the city.

KE appeals to its valued customers to understand the current situation and refrain for excessive use of any electrical appliances and conserve energy as much as possible so all citizens of Karachi can utilize power supply.
