8 water pumps running illegally disconnected along with Government-run facilities
Karachi, June 11, 2015: K-Electric issued its press statement today and gave out details related to the ongoing Operation Burq, which is targeting heavy defaulters and electricity thieves across the city.
As per details 34 raids were conducted in Lyari, Tipu Sultan, Garden, Sadr, Malir, Johar, Korangi, North Nazimabad, Uthal, North Karachi, FB Area and Liaquatabad.
More than 2,800 illegal connections were pulled down from these areas and arrests were made whereas 2 FIRs were lodged against people who have been involved in electricity theft for a while.
In the area of Malir KE’s team along with the LEAs raided Malir’s Agriculture land where water pumping stations were caught using electricity illegally. These Water pumps were located in the connecting Goths of Malir and were involved stealing electricity and running a huge load. A Public Health Engineering Pump was also raided, caught and penalized whereas a Government run Computer Institute was also caught using electricity without a running meter.
In another raid a Government run water hydrant was also raided and penalized. In Gulistan-e-Johar a few booking houses were involved in illegal usage of electricity. Sidra Twin Tower along with Pioneer Tower’s booking office were caught using electricity without a running meter and KE’s team imposed a penalty and the LEAs apprehended the culprits. A Kunda-removal drive was conducted at Mehran Town, Allah Wala Town and the KDA Employees Society where almost 700 illegal connections were pulled down and confiscated.
In Malir KE’s team raided the kunda-infested area of Dumba Goth and Memon Goth from where previously the area people showed resistance, but this time KE was successful in removing more than 300 illegal connections. In the same area KE’s team conducted a night-raid in Soomar Kadani and Ismail Kundani Goth whereas other night-raids took place in the vicinity of Tipu Sultan, Uthal and the residential and commercial area of Sadr.
