Operation Burq Continues with Positive Results –Different Commercial & Residential users of North Karachi, Nazimabad, Surjani and Gulistan-e-Johar amongst others raided

3,550 kunda wires weighting 1,600 KG were confiscated and pulled down from different areas

Karachi 27 January, 2016: Operation Burq, KE’s campaign against defaulters and thieves continued with positive results as some residential and commercial thieves were targeted. KE’s team raided almost 90 different spots which included Liyari I, Orangi, Baldia, Uthal Site, Tipu Sultan, KIMZ, Clifton, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gadap, Malir, Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Surjani and Nazimabad.

KE’s details stated that 3,550 kunda wires weighting 1,600 KG were confiscated and pulled down from different areas. KE Statement further detailed that around 10,000 KUNDAS were removed only in the area of Lyari since the start of phase II of Operation Burq. During raids, on the spot payments were seen from Chronic Cases of Marine drive multi story project in Clifton area. In another raid, illegal hooks were removed from Madiha Heights, a residential project in Delhi colony. A welding plant premises in Shireen Jinnah colony was also raided.

KE’s team raided the Old Burmi Goth, Awami Goth, Bhittai & Muhammad Ali Goth where 15 spots were caught red handed using electricity illegally. An under development residential project Daniyal Residency and Sanobar twin tower in Johar area were also raided and some penalty amount was paid on the spot. On the other hand an Industrial consumer in Nazimabad Commercial Area was caught red handed involved in electricity theft bypassing 70MM cable and using 155KW load, an FIR was lodged against the culprit in this case.

KE would once again plea to its good customers to step up and play their role and help the power utility in ending the menace of illegal usage of electricity.
