Operation Burq continues against defaulters and thieves– More than 6,000 illegal connections pulled down

Saddar Electronic Market raided along with a School that was involved in electricity theft – KE Spokesman

Karachi, June1st, 2015: According to KE’s press statement the power utility along with the Law Enforcing Agencies has continued to raid different spots all over the city so as to arrest those involved in electricity theft.

As per details more than 40 raids were conducted in the areas of North Nazimabad, Landhi, Shah Faisal, Gulshan, FB Area, Surjani, Gadap, Korangi, Johar, Baldia, Lyari, Clifton, Garden, Saddar, DHA etc.

More than 6,000 illegal connections (Kunda) were removed from these areas which weighed almost 2,700 KG. In the area of Saddar, a generator shop involved in electricity theft was raided and caught whereas another raid was conducted in the same area in which a School was busy stealing electricity. Arrests were made and investigation had commenced.

On the other hand a few FIRs were lodged which included one against a Flour Mill owner and a Tea Café in Gadap whereas a Plastic Bag manufacturer was also raided who had been using heavy load of electricity via theft. Another FIR was lodged against another thief who was previously resisting KE.

In the commercial area of Surjani 2 people were taken into FIA custody while stitching units in Surjani were also involved in electricity theft. The Law-Enforcing agencies along with the KE team visited these spots and investigation was underway.
