Operation Burq to continue till theft and losses are curbed – KE Spokesman

Karachi, June 3, 2015: According to a press statement released by K-Electric, the company spokesman has said that the ongoing Operation Burq which is against thieves and heavy defaulters would continue till the menace of electricity theft is under control.

As per details KE’s team visited 31 different spots today where raids were conducted, and these areas included Orangi, Sadr, Tipu Sultan, Garden, Korangi, Johar, Shah Faisal, Malir, Gadap, Gulshan, FB Area and Nazimabad.

Almost 2,500 illegal connections were pulled down and confiscated and these illegally connected wires weighed in over 1,300 KG.

Commercial areas of Orangi were raided where heavy commercial users were caught stealing electricity and apart from a few FIRs, thieves were apprehended by Law-Enforcing Agencies (LEAs).

A few other arrests were also made in North Nazimabad, whereas investigation had commenced.
