Operation Burq – Almost 6,700 illegal connections removed whereas defaulters and electricity thieves taken away for investigation

Residential complex along with a leather manufacturer raided due to electricity theft – KE Spokesman

Karachi, May 28, 2015: KE released details of the ongoing Operation Burq today and as per these details the law enforcing agencies along with KE’s team raided different spots where arrests against heavy defaulters and thieves were made.

According to KE’s press statement almost 6,700 illegal connections were removed today which weighed over 4,000 KG. KE has been conducting these raids with the help of FIA and Rangers in areas where KE used to face resistance before. FIR was lodged against a person involved in electricity theft.

Areas that were raided included North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Gulshan, FB Area, Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, Gadap, Johar, Malir, Landhi. Tipu Sultan, Clifton, Orangi, Lyari and Garden amongst others.

A Leather Manufacturer was raided in Orangi which was involved in electricity theft, using heavy machinery. On the other hand a residential kunda infested area near TIpu Sultan was also raided by KE’s team from where arrests were made. Apart from this a residential building was raided where the paying ratio was at its minimum and the defaulters there were also involved in electricity theft.
