Operation Burq – Almost 4000 illegal connections removed whereas defaulters and electricity thieves taken away for investigation

Mega Residential projects in Johar and commercial markets in lyari raided due to electricity theft, some on the spot payments by defaulters also seen – KE Spokesman

Karachi, May 29, 2015: Operation Burq, KE’s campaign against defaulters and thieves continued with some positive results as some residential and commercial thieves were targeted. Releasing the details of the ongoing Operation it is said that the law enforcing agencies along with KE’s team raided different spots where arrests against heavy defaulters and thieves were made.

According to KE’s press statement, In the recent activities almost. 4000 illegal connections were removed which weighed over 1800 KG. KE has been conducting these raids with the help of FIA and Rangers in areas where KE used to face resistance before. FIR was lodged against a person involved in electricity theft.

Areas that were raided included North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Gulshan, FB Area, Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, Gadap, Liaqatabad, Johar, Malir, Landhi, Korangi Bin Qasim. Tipu Sultan, Clifton, Orangi, Lyari and Garden amongst others.

A Pent House in Block 15 of Gulistan e johar was raided in was involved in electricity theft, using heavy Electronic Appliances. In vicinity of Gulistan e Johar the major residential kunda infested residential projects namely Rabia City, Johar Square and Unique Heights were also raided by KE’s team and around 7 arrests were made in Korangi area on Electricity Theft. Apart from this 4 persons from commercial and 2 persons from residential vicinity of lines area were taken into custody after raid where defaulters there were involved in electricity theft. Furthermore 2 commercial consumers made the payments on the spot during the raid in lyari area.
