Operation Burq – Over 4,300 Illegal Connections Removed from 24 Different Raids

Karachi, June 9, 2015: K-Electric continues with its Operation Burq and as per latest details 24 more raids were conducted by KE with the help of the Law-Enforcing-Agencies in different parts of Karachi.

Over 4,300 illegal connections were removed by KE’s team in the areas of Lyari, Tipu Sultan, Gadap, Johar, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, Surjani, Liaquatabad, Malir, North Karachi and North Nazimabad. The total weight of these confiscated connections was over 1,400 KG.

In the area of Surjani over 1,000 Kundas were removed from areas where previously KE was shown a lot of resistance. 5 PMTs were lifted from Malir due to heavy outstanding amounts and for these particular PMTs the paying ratio was as low as 8%. 2 FIRs were launched against culprits who were running a small industrial unit in Lyari and arrests were made.

With the help of Rangers Madina Colony in Korangi was also raided which is a highly infested area as far as Kunda connections are concerned. Culprits were penalized whereas residents have already started approaching the IBC to pay their dues and penalties.

In the area of Johar a residential place was raided which was involved in electricity theft and a penalty was imposed and investigation commenced. On the other hand Zaman Town in Korangi was also raided where residential consumers involved in electricity theft were penalized and in some cases apprehended.

Spokesman KE said, “We would again like to thank our good customers who are pin-pointing the exact locations as well, and it makes it easier for us to target those involved in electricity theft”.
