KE Signs MoU with Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Centre (KITCC) for free electricity

Karachi, 24th September 2015: K-Electric was pleased to announce that under its Social Investment Program (SIP) the company has signed its 14th MoU with Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Centre (KITCC) after which the power utility would be providing free-of-cost electricity to the 40-bed state of the art Thalassemia Centre. Member of the KITCC Board of Directors S.M. Muneer and Rashid Siddiqui who is also the President for KATI were accompanied by Chairman KITC Muhammad Iqbal to the MoU signing ceremony.

KE entered into this understanding with KITCC because of the role it plays in helping out Thalassemia patients. KITCC has successfully conducted more than 4,200 Free blood transfusions whereas 95% of patients have a free of cost treatment at the centre.

At the MoU signing K-Electric’s CEO Tayyab Tareen said, “K-Electric commends such ingenuity and support that the Thalassemia Centre is currently providing and will continue to extend assistance to anyone serving a noble cause. Previously KE was providing FoC electricity to 13 institutions such as The Kidney Centre, SIUT, Indus Hospital, MALC, Karavan-e-Hayat, Bait-ul-Sukoon Cancer Hospital, SoS Children Village amongst others and now KITCC becomes K-Electric’s 14th partner in their SIP Program”.

The Press statement added that the power utility is proud to be associated with KITCC because of their commitment to patients. It is the only institute in Pakistan to have a locally-developed Infusion pump for patients which costs a mere PKR 4,000 compared to an imported pump which ranged above PKR 90,000 and the company believes that as a responsible corporate entity it has to reinforce its commitment to such institutions.
