KE & I Am Karachi, Under-19 Cricket Tournament Concludes after an Exciting Finale

Team Zone II wins accolades in Under-19 Tournament by 7 Wickets

Karachi – 22nd May, 2015: K-Electric’s Under-19 Cricket Tournament finally concluded with its full zeal and enthusiasm at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy that commenced on May 9, 2015. The final match of this tournament was played between Zone-II and Zone-V teams. After a thrilling encounter, Team Zone II emerged as the winner of Under-19 Cricket Tournament while Zone Zone V made it as the runners-up. Man of the match and Man of the Tournament was awarded to Mehmood Ali of Team Zone II, while best Batsman was awarded to Salman Khan from Zone V and Best Bowler was awarded to Mehmood Ali from Zone II. The tournament had been organized by K-Electric in collaboration with ‘I AM Karachi’ and Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA).

A closing ceremony was held at the academy in which Usama Qureshi, Chief of Staff & Chief Marketing Officer K-Electric awarded the wining team a trophy as well as the prize money of worth PKR 100,000 whereas runners-up received cash prizes worth PKR 50,000. The Man of the match, Man of the Tournament, best Batsman and best Bowler were offered a cash prize of PKR 5,000 each.

Speaking on the occasion, Usama Qureshi of K-Electric commented, “I would like to convey my heartiest felicitation to the winning team as well as all the participated teams who displayed great sportsmanship throughout this tournament. Our objective in arranging such tournaments is to create a healthy environment and provide a platform and an opportunity to the youth of this city to put their exceptional talent at display in the field of sports. We are pleased to have received such a positive response.”

Usama Qureshi added, “I am also appreciative of our event partners ‘I Am Karachi’ and KCCA for supporting such events for the citizens of Karachi. K-Electric believes in harnessing talent at grass root level and turning them into top-class sportsmen.”

A total of eight teams participated in this tournament where seven teams were nominated from all seven zones of Karachi and one team (I am Karachi XI) was nominated by KCCA. KE vows to collaborate with institutes and organizations to promote sports in the country in the coming days.
