K-Electric pledges to plant 100,000 trees in celebration of Pakistan’s Independence

Karachi, August 11, 2016: Celebrating the Independence of Pakistan K-Electric (KE) has pledged to plant 100,000 trees for a Greener Pakistan.

This was shared at a tree plantation drive at the SOS Village where the children of SOS Village along with KE Employees and Management, planted trees together. KE has already planted 55,000 trees in different parts of the city and will plant another 45,000 by December 2016.

Volunteering employees of KE with the children of SOS Village planted 50 saplings of indigenous variety in the vicinity of the welfare community. Celebrations included singing national songs, a musical performance and face painting.

Speaking about the initiative, K-Electric’s spokesperson stated, “This Independence Day, we have reinforced our passion for Pakistan through this pledge to plant trees. We are here today to educate young minds about the benefits of conserving the environment we live in and celebrating the spirit of Independence with the Children of SOS village.”

Prior to this event, the power utility also initiated a social media campaign encouraging people to contribute to a greener Pakistan. The utility has committed to plant a tree for every citizen who shares an image of him or her planting a tree with the #PlantforPakistan on social media.
