K-Electric to lay a new 132 KV Underground Circuit from Queens Road Grid Station to Old Town Grid Station

New transmission line will help provide a more stable, more reliable supply to consumers- Spokesperson

Karachi, 28th March 2016: K-Electric has signed a contract with Xian Electric Engineering Company (China) through which KE would lay a new 132 KV underground circuit from Queens Road Grid Station to Old Town Grid Station. The completion of this project would be approximately 1 year and the new transmission line would help in loss reduction via a smoother electricity supply which would benefit the consumers in the area.

The project is worth USD 3.3 Million and the new Underground Transmission Line would pave the way for a more stable and reliable supply of electricity to 3 K-Electric Grid Stations. The contract was jointly signed at the KE House by Suo Tao, Deputy General Manager Xian Electric Engineering Company Ltd. and Muhammad Adil, Deputy Chief Transmission Officer K-Electric.

K-Electric’s Spokesperson added that this contract cements KE’s commitment and its investment plan whereby the power utility would invest in its generation transmission and distribution network. This bodes well for the customers through enhanced reliability and reduction in the fault ratio for the respective areas.

K-Electric had recently signed a USD 400 Million transmission investment package (TP-1000) where the 1,000 MVA Project would add new Grid Stations, Transmission Lines, additional Power transformers and up gradation of SCADA. The signing of the above-mentioned contract with M/s Siemens and M/s Xian Electric Engineering Company (Consortium) is in line with this transmission investment plan.
