Karachi – September 10, 2016: In order to further improve the reliability of electricity to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), K-Electric has installed an additional feeder. The feeder was energized today.
According to KE spokesperson, “The continuous stream of investment from KE reinforces our long-term commitment to serve the people of Karachi. Fully funded by KE, this initiative is designed to further improve reliability in meeting the growing capacity demand of JMPC and its adjoining areas.”
KE teams worked closely with JPMC management during the project. Any related shutdowns were carried out with prior approval of hospital’s management including the brief shutdown performed today to officially energize and interlink the feeders.
Earlier this year, KE installed a new 40 MVA power transformer at Aga Khan Grid Station as well as installed an upgraded 400 KVA dedicated PMT at Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) Eye hospital located in Korangi. The utility also partnered with Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Centre (KITCC) for the installation of a dedicated 150 KVA PMT last week.
Over the years K-Electric has emerged as a pioneering utility which has introduced a number of customer-centric initiatives including improving the generation capacity, and upgrading the transmission and distribution networks. Since 2009, KE has invested USD 1.2 billion and added 1037MW in the grid with a commitment to further invest USD 2.2 billion as part of its overall future investment plan.
Moreover, TP-1000 Transmission Enhancement Plan of $400 million was also announced last year which aims to add 1000 MVA in the transmission and distribution infrastructure and will ensure a smoother and more reliable supply of power for K-Electric consumers in Karachi and its adjoining areas.
