BREAKING BARRIERS, REDEFINING POSSIBILITIES: KE HOSTED YAQEEN CAREER FAIR 2023

Karachi – 21 NOVEMBER 2023: Following the success of its pioneering event in 2022, KE recently organized the second leg of the career fair titled, ‘Yaqeen Career Fair 2023.’ This year’s edition was dedicated to creating employment opportunities for differently-abled individuals (DAI). The initiative aligns with KE’s commitment to Diversity and Inclusion and realizing the Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG-5).

In an endeavor to promote workplace inclusivity, the career fair was aimed at fostering a culture of empathy and understanding and bridging existing gaps. The fair included 16 major corporations and DAI job aspirants.
This time the company hosted almost 100 DAI, many of whom were facilitated by their respective support organizations while the remainder consisted of walk-in candidates. Interpreters were present to assist in effective communication during the interviews, ensuring a level playing field for all participants while companies explored opportunities for inclusive employment.

Commenting on the career fair, Rizwan Dalia the Chief People Officer of KE said, “As a forward-thinking power utility, KE acknowledges the untapped potential within the DAI community, and is devoted to breaking barriers and empowering them by creating opportunities. KE believes in harnessing the diverse set of talents and recognizes their significance in navigating today’s dynamic and fast-paced employment landscape. Healthy, inclusive environments are necessary in today’s world where people can thrive, share ideas, innovate, and contribute in meaningful ways for shared development.”

In that respect, KE’s “Yaqeen-Enabling Abilities” program, offers internships and regular hirings for DAIs. Presently, KE has 12 employees in permanent roles, alongside the provision of 10 internship opportunities for differently abled persons in 2023. KE is determined in integrating them into the workforce.

Continuing this pathway, KE fosters empathy and understanding that embraces diversity and inclusiveness. The company conducts routine audits to build better understanding on accessible infrastructure and communication.
