K-Electric Completes Landmark SAP S/4HANA Migration Under Project IRTIQA

Karachi, April 11, 2025 — K-Electric (KE) has successfully gone live with SAP S/4HANA under its flagship digital innovation program, Project IRTIQA. This milestone marks the completion of one of the most ambitious ERP, CRM, and billing system transformations undertaken in the region.

Project IRTIQA was delivered in a record 18-month timeline, reflecting an aggressive pace given the complexity and scale of the undertaking. The program involved the end-to-end replacement of KE’s legacy ERP, CRM and Billing systems and the migration of one of the largest SAP data volumes in Pakistan – laying the foundation for enhanced operational efficiency, and enhanced customer experience.

The new modules allow the integration of all functions from customer billing to data management, effectively reducing the time required for complaints resolution. This will also allow a one-window solution that provides a 360-degree view of the customer journey enabling KE to utilize historical insights and personalize customer experience through data analytics.

The investment enables enhancement of KE’s technological infrastructure so that it can continue to innovate and introduce greater advances like smart grid, live tracking of electricity consumption, and prepaid meters.

“Today, KE achieved a major milestone in technological excellence surpassing industry benchmarks” said Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, CEO KE. “This milestone would not have been achieved without the dedication and commitment of our employees and business partners. Customer centricity is one of our core values and this upgrade will allow us to work more efficiently. The frictionless implementation and adoption is an advancing step for KE’s future goals.”, he added further.

Sharing his thoughts, KE’s Chief Information Officer Muhammad Atif Aslam stated, “Technology modernization is at the heart of business transformation. It was a highly complex undertaking, but also an incredibly exciting journey. This technological advancement demonstrates our unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of Pakistan’s economic center. The scale of what we’ve delivered – across systems, data, and integrations – reflects not just our commitment to innovation, but also the strength of collaboration across teams and our partners.”

“Successfully delivering this SAP transformation in one go—with minimal impact to operations—is a rare accomplishment in projects of this scale. It paves the way for K-Electric’s digital and AI-driven future, and we are proud to be witnessing this milestone alongside KE.” added Saquib Ahmad, Managing Director for SAP Pakistan, Bahrain, Iraq & Afghanistan.

Asif Peer, CEO Systems Limited, KE’s implementation partner, remarked: “The program’s scope presented a highly intricate landscape with vast data volumes, multifaceted integrations, and challenges spanning people, processes, and technology. The trust put in us by KE to achieve this and learn has created a success story that should put Pakistan on the map of the global IT sector and help Pakistan in improving IT exports.
