Dhabeji pumping stations’ electricity was restored within 30 minutes; KWSB should stop putting their incompetency on others – KE

Karachi, 4th March 2014: K-Electric has come out with its press statement in which it has categorically denied KWSB’s reports which said that there was a major breakdown at the pumping stations due to which water supply to Karachi has been badly affected.

Giving some details spokesman KE said that the breakdown occurred at approximately 08:30 am on Monday, due to rain at the Dhabeji and Gharo areas, but the KE team, treating such feeders as strategic, restored electricity by 08:55 am which was hardly 30 minutes.

KWSB who is also a defaulter of PKR 27 Billion, as always has exaggerated the situation and stopped its water supply to Karachi using the breakdown as an excuse. KE’s spokesman was astounded as to how a 25-30 minute breakdown could lead to such water scarcity.

KWSB has a knack of putting its own incompetency onto others as they thrive on blame-games’, KE spokesman added. K-Electric’s press statement also put forward a question for the media community, that why is it that water-board’s network usually breaks down and fails to provide water to the citizens of Karachi, whereas on the other hand illegal water hydrants run their operations freely and 24/7, through tankers who are constantly busy supplying water in all parts of Karachi, including posh areas?

This could also imply that the supply and distribution network of these illegal hydrants is far superior to that of the water board irrespective of the funds it gets through the federal and provincial budgets.

KE clarified once again that the obsolete machinery and equipment at the KWSB premise is a major cause of concern, and despite lamenting and putting the entire blame on KE, to date, KWSB has not invested in an alternate source either.
